Nov. 2008 - Solid IT Completes University Update
Texas A&M Univeristy - Kingville, TX. Solid IT Networks in partnership with Foundry Networks has recently completed an extensive network upgrade and WiFi installation at the universities Kingsville Campus. A total of 13 FastIron chassis were installed forming the new network core and distribution layers in the major facilities throughout the campus. A total of 172 FastIron 24 and 48 port stackables were installed in the wiring closets to provide access for existing wired connections as well as POE for the new wireless infrastructure consisting of 292 access points also installed by the project team. To celebrate the success of the project, Solid IT Networks hosted a Customer Appreciation BBQ on the campus on November 14. The event was enjoyed by over 100 Texas A&M personnel. Solid IT Networks Opens New Office and Warehouse in Houston, TX.
Solid IT is pleased to announce the opening of our new Office and Warehouse location. Located in the greater Houston area, the office is centrally located to some of our largest clients. Additionally, it is located very conveniently to HP's Parts Depot.The warehouse not only allows us to store inventory for quick order fulfillment, but also enables us to stage projects and to facilitate smooth project rollouts and implementations.

Nationally Recognized Apartment Management Company Selects Bluesocket®
Bluesocket Selected for Ease of Management and Superior
Internet Monitoring and Tracking Capabilities.
BURLINGTON, Mass. - January 23, 2006 - Bluesocket, Inc. (www.bluesocket.com), the leader in open wireless security and management solutions, today announced that Management Services, Inc. (MSI), a Dinerstein company, has implemented BlueSecure(tm) 2100 Controllers in six of its off-campus student housing properties across the U.S. to provide bandwidth control and usage management to property residents.
MSI is the IT branch of the Dinerstein Companies, a Houston-based, family owned company that has built and operated apartment properties in twenty-seven different states. Dinerstein has constructed thirty-seven off-campus student housing properties throughout the United States. Paramount in MSI's decision-making process was finding a control solution that could handle the high usage demands of a student property where systems are operating 24 hours a day with thousands of sessions running at any given period of time. Management Services selected the BlueSecure Controller for its bandwidth control capabilities, as well as its superior Internet monitoring, user tracking, and ease-of-use right out of the box.
"Student properties provide unique challenges when it comes to Internet usage given the number of concurrent sessions that are in play and the prevalence of bandwidth intensive, peer-to-peer applications," said Michael Dalke, director of IT at MSI. "Bluesocket was able to handle our network load with ease, and enabled us to block users infected with viruses or guilty of sending spam traffic. Additionally, Bluesocket's bandwidth management capabilities have helped us control our expenses. We can now effectively rollout the amount of bandwidth needed per property without any waste."
Working with network equipment solutions provider Solid IT Networks, MSI has installed BlueSecure 2100 Controllers across six of its off-campus student housing properties located throughout the U.S. Each Controller manages approximately 550 users per property providing secure, reliable, policy-based Internet access to more than 3,500 users. In addition to monitoring Internet usage, the Controller limits each user to a specified amount of bandwidth in order to ensure a consistent Internet experience for all users. Simultaneously, the Controller blocks users with a virus or who are sending spam traffic in order to protect other users from infection or network slowdowns.
Due to the Controller's authentication and tracking capabilities, MSI is able to proactively communicate with its residents and has created a community news Web page that immediately appears when users log on to the property provided network. On the initial resident login, the Controller prompts users to sign the acceptable user policy before allowing the resident to sign up for service. MSI also uses this news Web page to inform users of local community activities, resident business issues, new services, and potentially dangerous viruses that may pop up on the network without notice.
In the future, MSI plans to rollout and install BlueSecure Controllers across all of its off-campus student housing properties as well as at newly-purchased properties.
