Solid IT Networks Tees Up for Fort Worth Can Academies

FORT WORTH – May 9, 2012 – Solid IT Networks was the presenting sponsor for the 2012 Fort Worth Can Academies’ Celebrity Golf Tournament recently held at the Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington, Texas. Silver sponsor for the tournament was Enterasys Networks.

Almost 90 players began with a shotgun start in the four-person scramble, 18-hole tournament. Honorary tournament chair was Mark McLemore, former Texas Ranger and CBS 11 sports commentator.

The proceeds from the annual fundraiser support the students of the two Fort Worth Can Academy campuses while they earn their high school diplomas. The nonprofit organization believes providing the tools needed outside the classroom also advances their academic performance and is critical to breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty and illiteracy. The charter schools are tuition-free, open enrollment, public high schools of choice with 10 campuses located in Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. Since 1985, Texans Can Academies have served more than 70,000 at-risk youth who want a second chance at life with an education.
